Tucked away on the charming Suffolk coast, just a 6-minute drive from the seaside town of Aldeburgh, Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie’s fairy-tale holiday village conjures up the spirit of Merrie England. Thorpeness is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, a beautiful boating lake complete with Peter Pan islands, a 70ft fairy-tale cottage on stilts, tennis courts, a green, pub and village store. Giving you plenty to do and see this festive season!
Our Christmas break includes a three-night stay with breakfast, all festive dining and unlimited golf throughout.
24TH DECEMBER
Arrive anytime in the afternoon to a warm welcome from our Folk!
Check-in and spend your afternoon as you please, whether that's relaxing in your room or our lounge, enjoying a drink in Braid's Bar, taking on our Christmas quiz or exploring our mini-golf course 'Jiggers' and the nearby beach. To tide you over until dinner, our Folk invite you to enjoy Cream Tea in the lounge.
As the sun goes down over the picture-perfect heather, take your seat in Ogilvie's restaurant for Chef's Christmas Eve dinner.
Enjoy a festive tipple or two in the bar before retiring to your bedroom for a restful night's sleep ahead of tomorrow's celebrations.
25TH DECEMBER
Wake up rested and refreshed. Before the day gets into full swing, enjoy a leisurely breakfast accompanied by a glass of Bucks Fizz, served from 7.30 am.
Our very own Christmas Treasure Hunt is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit whilst waiting for lunch, be sure to join in on the fun!
Whether it’s a round of golf you desire or perhaps an invigorating walk along the enchanting Thorpeness and Aldeburgh coastline, we will be awaiting your return as our magnificent Christmas Day Lunch is served in the restaurant.
After lunch, get your competitive hat ready once more as our time-honoured traditional board games await a conqueror in the lounge. The time is your own, so please feel free to relax in your room or enjoy a drink by the fireside.
Head Chef and his Folk will once more be preparing a hot and cold supper full of festive treats to be served in the bar and Ogilvie's restaurant.
26TH DECEMBER
Enjoy another leisurely breakfast (if you aren't still full from yesterday!) in Ogilvie's, available from 7.30 am.
The 26th of December would not be complete without our annual Boxing Day Santa’s Cup Golf competition.
Alternatively you may wish to head to nearby Aldeburgh to watch (or join in with) the annual Boxing Day sea swim, you can of course take part if you so wish.
In the evening we invite you to enjoy another delicious dinner at Ogilvie’s.

BOXING DAY GOLF COMPETITION
Enter in teams of 4 or let us team you up with other guests. Once you have booked your break and have decided you would like to play in this competition, forward your handicap and playing requirements (i.e. in a team or need a team), and your preferred starting time, together with any buggy/trolley bookings.
27th DECEMBER
Enjoy one final breakfast before heading home. Check out by 11am.
