Golf has always enjoyed a love affair with a post round drink, so much so that the clubhouse bar is affectionately called the “19th Hole” the world over.
Golf has romantic connections to a number of stiff drinks, like Kummel (a strong aniseed tasting liquor of Danish origin), Port (rich fortified red wine), and Gin and Tonic (refreshing and cleansing spirit) being among the most popular of golfing tipple.
Here in Suffolk we are blessed with one of the finest real ale scenes in Britain and a good hoppy ale is as much a part of the 19th hole experience at Thorpeness Golf Club as any stiffener from the top shelf.
Suffolk ale is so revered that we have launched our own Ale and Golf Trail featuring a tour around one of Suffolk’s finest breweries Adnams of Southwold.
