Annual Thorpeness Charity Golf and Tennis Day

Our annual charity golf and tennis day took place earlier this month and we are pleased to say it was a great success!

With 130 in attendance, including a whopping 76 golfers and 34 tennis players, the day got off to a bang and we were delighted to see so many faces showing their support for our chosen charity, St. Elizabeth’s Hospice.

As the competitions got underway, 15 auction lots were ready and waiting including two fantastic holidays; a stunning villa in Turkey and chalet retreat in the Alps. Both contributed to the £10,000+ that has been raised and we are truly thankful for everyone’s support. So, onto the competitions…

Former French Open champion, Christine Truman, and daughter, Amanda Janes, both having played at Wimbledon in their careers and returning from the Paris Open, took part and ran the tennis competitions. Long-term friend of Thorpeness, Amanda Janes is president of the Country Club committee and runs a series of clinics at our courts throughout the summer for both children and adults. Anne Hutchinson and Tip Flory ran out as the ladies winning pair, whilst William Kendall and Jeremy Prior won the men’s.

The golf, played on one of the finest golf courses in Suffolk here at Thorpeness, saw out a day of great competition, as Brian and Liz Lindores with Ray and Annie Foreman secured their place at the top of the pile.

Once again, thank you to everyone involved and congratulations to our champions. It was a great day out for all involved and raised a serious amount of money for charity.
