More about Richard Nichols
Richard Nichols: Brief BIOG
Richard is a true Suffolk artist, being born at Hadleigh and exhibiting his work at the famous Gainsborough's House in Sudbury during his schooldays. He loves all things natural and feels very privileged to be endowed with a talent which he enjoys sharing with others to help create their own artworks and develop individual styles
Following an early career in publishing and design, he set up a studio which successfully promoted and marketed a wide array of products and services, before devoting all his time to fine art with renowned shows of beautifully detailed drawings and paintings. This quickly progressed to a solo "Around Britain" watercolour project to celebrate with commissions of his art the places which everyone holds dear about this wonderful and diverse country
The unique venture brought about many regional exhibitions, events and charitable talks which dovetailed into a busy nationwide programme of tuition for a specialist activity holiday company, leading art breaks in and around select Country House Hotels over a five year period, during which he achieved consistently high feedback from participants
Richard became Artist in Residence for two successive years whilst exhibiting regularly at National Trust Blickling Hall, where he initiated the amazing 33 metre long "Brush with Blickling" wall friezes which saw thousands of visitors contributing their often tentative but hugely successful brush strokes of paint to the beautiful scenes he had drawn up of first, House & Gardens, then famous Characters associated with the property throughout History
Many other valuable associations and working partnerships have been formed with international organisations and prestigious companies such as: English Heritage, RSPB, Snape Maltings and renowned art material manufacturers Winsor & Newton, who still make the lovely paints and brushes in the UK which Richard uses everyday
Guest lecturing on specialist cruise lines has added to the spectrum of changing scenery which he has been fortunate to experience and share with a wide range of abilities and would-be artists, as Richard truly believes everyone can draw and paint given suitable encouragement, guidance and understanding
His continuing local authority adult leisure learning activities, summer school work and assistance with a learning difficulty group has also been recognised by an independent Grade 1 Tutor Assessment which adds to existing, much appreciated group and individual feedback
Such positive reaction has encouraged Richard to offer a series of locally based Art Workshops for 2010 which will focus on the wonderful coast, countryside and heritage of East Anglia and particularly his home county of Suffolk, where an abundance of diverse subject matter awaits those who wish to tap into their creativity…
