Thorpeness is located 2 miles north of Aldeburgh and is easily accessible via the A14 onto the A12 and A1094. Thorpeness Hotel is all about taking time out of our busy lives to relax, reflect, and enjoy the seaside and the beautiful countryside we have to offer.
The hotel is located by the golf course close to the famous Meare, the House in the Clouds and the Windmill. The Village shop, the Tea Rooms, and Public House are only a short stroll away from the hotel and there are plenty of shops, places to eat and events taking place throughout the year in nearby Aldeburgh.
You will find the Country Club on the Benthills by the seafront where we have holiday apartments, tennis courts, gardens, and function rooms all right by the pebble beach. All the holiday apartments are fully serviced, ready for your arrival, and we are on call 24 hours a day for assistance or emergencies via Thorpeness Hotel. You can play tennis on the hard courts all year round and in the summer, we have the addition of 3 grass courts for you to enjoy as well.
It is the ideal location for your business event.
A hidden gem
Thorpeness is one of Suffolk’s hidden gems which remains so wonderfully timeless.
Sharing an unspoilt beach with neighbouring Aldeburgh, it is within easy reach of London, the Midlands and the South-East. Nearly a century ago, the architect, barrister and playwright, Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie, created his mock-Tudor seaside holiday village, among the purple heather and golden gorse.
The Thorpeness Magic
By the 1930’s, the Country Club, Golf Club, 65 acre ‘swallows and amazons’ Meare and The House in the Clouds had all appeared. A decade earlier, the legendary James Braid laid out the 18-hole, 6241-yard heathland golf course, which today boasts the reputation of being one of the best of its kind in the country. G.S. Ogilvie’s dream has stood the test of time and now this pretty seaside hamlet is witnessing a new generation enjoying the Thorpeness magic.
Thorpeness provides a haven where delegates can work and relax to produce the best possible results.
For Team Building events, we can arrange an array of activities on site or nearby. Non-golfers will not miss out as we can arrange an introduction to the game with tuition with one of our Professionals, followed by a competition on the practice ground and putting green. Golfers will probably wish to avail themselves of our wonderful course. There is Archery, Paint Balling, Biking, Paddle Boat Racing, Tennis (or Table Tennis) to name but a few of the activities we can arrange or you may wish to bring in a team building events professional to tailor activities specifically to your needs.
Our unique location will ensure a memorable occasion for all those who attend and as this part of the Suffolk coast is probably the sunniest area in the whole of the United Kingdom, you will be able to enjoy the outdoors as much as the comforts of our facilities indoors.
Team Building Pursuits
For some fun competition, enjoy a round a golf at the challenging 18-hole Thorpeness Golf Course overlooking the heritage coastline or perhaps a game of tennis on the first-class hard courts at the Thorpeness Country Club.
Space to breathe
More leisurely team building pursuits, that will get everyone pulling together, include sailing on the stunning meare or cycling through the picturesque countryside. For something a little different, target your energy with clay pigeon shooting.
With space to breathe, your business trip to Suffolk will soon have you bursting with new ideas and refreshed ready to get back to work.
For the more energetic
